FOUL Pot
Present: Connor, Scott
Not a cave either of us had been to before. FOUL Pot is often described as being a bit like other Fountains Fell caves, but not as ‘ard or ‘orrible. I’d concur with this. It reminded me of Curtain Pot, though not quite as long.
In a nutshell: nuts, usually. But to sum up FOUL Pot – entrance climb, awkward bit, really awkward bit, climb down, nice orange flowstone, boulders, crawly bit, decent pitch, decorated passage, tight rift, really nice pitch (Man o’ War), traversey passage, final pitch into big chamber, muddy sump.
All of this was good fun, with 4 bags to pass between Connor and I in the various tight bits. He rigged, I derigged. We had a Yorkie at the bottom. It took about 5 hours, car to car. There was a friendly reptile to greet us upon exiting.
Good day out really, with a bit of everything. Let’s get it back on the Meets List at some point!
